Hudson Valley Bears Player Draft Concludes
(Player tryouts to be conducted this Sunday at Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh)
The new Hudson Valley Bears of the Eastern Professional Hockey League have begun the process of constructing their roster for the upcoming 2008-09 season with the selection of six players from the other EPHL teams.
The Bears have chosen from the Brooklyn Aces defenseman Joe Lyle, defenseman Gabe Yeung, and goaltender Len DiCostanzo. Joe Lyle, from Rutland, Vermont, is 5’11”. 210 lbs and played last season for the MAHL Valley Forge Freedom in Pennsylvania. Gabe Yeung is a 6’5”, 230 lbs. native of Madison, Wisconsin who saw action last year with the Flint Generals in the IHL along with both the Laredo Bucks and Odessa Jackalopes of the CHL. Port Jefferson Station, New York native Len DiCostanzo played briefly in the ECHL for the Charlotte Checkers and Mississippi Sea Wolves.
From the Danbury Mad Hatters, Hudson Valley has chosen defenseman Eric Lind, forward Chris Seifert, and defenseman T.J. Cline. 6’-2”, 195 lbs Eric Lind is from Stamford, Connecticut. Lind played last year for the Kalamazoo Wings (IHL) along with the Elmira Jackals and Mississippi Sea Wolves (ECHL). Fairfield, Connecticut native Chris Seifert (6’-0”, 180 lbs) played briefly last season for the Valley Forge Freedom and previously played with Elmira and Adirondack in the UHL. T.J. Cline, from Buffalo, New York, is 6’-1”, 220 lbs and also played last season for the Valley Forge Freedom. Seifert and Cline were college teammates at Manhattanville College.
Players selected from the Jersey Rockhoppers will be named later.
Hudson Valley Bears Open Tryouts
A reminder that the Hudson Valley Bears will be holding open tryouts for interested hockey players this coming Sunday, October 19th at the Ice Time Sports Complex, located at 21 Lakeside Road in Newburgh, New York.
Registration will begin at 8:00am on Sunday morning with a morning on-ice session to follow from 8:45am to 10:15am.Lunch will be the responsibility of the players with another on-ice session from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Player meetings will follow the afternoon session.
The registration fee for the Bears tryout is $100.00 (cash or money orders only please). Players will need to bring full HECC (Hockey Equipment Certification Council) ice hockey gear.
